My youngest recently celebrated his birthday at Canal Park, home of the Akron Aeros.
That's my little man on the mound, right after taking his turn at throwing out a pitch, and my husband on the left, his arm up to take pictures with his phone. Thanks to my friends for taking video for me!
The kids had such a great time! Surrounded by friends and family, throwing out a pitch, standing on the dugout and having the entire stadium sing "Happy Birthday"... What more could a kid want?
Perhaps your team winning in grand style. Which they did.
And really chocolate-y cupcakes. Which he had.
And a lot of great presents. Which he opened and has enjoyed ever since.
Life is good.
We do love going to ball games as a family. And there is just something surprisingly special to me, personally, about going to Canal Park. It's small and easily accessible. It's easy to follow the game, and to get behind your team even if you don't know the players' names before you get there. It's classic and home-y and makes you feel good.
Just like knitting (how 'bout that for a segue, eh?). Two great pastimes that go great together.
Ever heard of Stitch N' Pitch? I just adore this idea! It's a program of The National Needle Arts Association (TNNA) that brings together people who enjoy the classics.
Now, I heard a rumor that an event has been planned already (possibly in August...?) at Canal Park but I can't seem to find anything online to confirm this as fact or any exact date. I am very intrigued and excited by this idea, however! Particularly since I thought about checking into organizing some such animal myself, but hadn't quite gotten around to it between school ending and party planning and parents visiting and foot twisting...
But that's a whole 'nother story we don't need to get into right now.
The point is, I'm looking for confirmation. I have a few more avenues I can stroll down in search of more info, but in the mean time, maybe you know? If the rumors be true, I would love to spread the good word and maybe drum up another attendee or two!
And if you don't know, either, I'll see what I can find out for you!
